New Delhi, September 4: THE Right To Information awareness camp, organised jointly by The Indian Express and Parivartan, has created a buzz in Vasant Kunj.

Residents want some answers from the concerned civic authorities on issues ranging from poor water supply to potholed roads to streetlighting.

Newsline talked to a few residents who showed a keen interest in using The Right To Information Act.
ANSHU KUMAR
Housewife resident of c-4

It (Right To Information Act) sounds quite interesting and I would like to attend the camp as well. Vasant Kunj faces a host of problems. Erratic Water supply is a common problem throughout the area. At times, block C-4 goes without water for days while other pockets and sectors have water.

I really want to find out what is their method of water distribution and why it is not equitable. I also want to know why there is no proper drainage mechanism around our area. Though a high-end locality, here we have to walk through water-logged roads during the rains.
Anina Chacko
Advertising & PR student; resident of C-1

I am tired of wading through waterlogged roads. Dirty water and mud surrounds our locality after every single shower. Why don’t they have drains? Isn’t that so elementary? What kind of planning is done by civic agencies?
Sumeet Jha
Student/ part-time employee at Cafe Coffee Day; resident of D-8

Almost every tenth house in Vasant Kunj has encroached on the service lane. Yet, MCD turns a blind eye to it. How come this is done so easily? The planter’s lane in many places has been converted into personalised car parking. Vasant Kunj had lots of problems regarding wrong billing and metering of electricity as well.

All it takes is a few minutes this Sunday

Have you changed your life? You can begin by asking questions about that potholed road in your colony or the overflowing garbage dump or the foul-smelling water on your tap? The Right to Information Act empowers you.

The Indian Express and Parivartan will be jointly organising camps across the city to bring RTI to your doorstep. The first camp for South Delhi will be held on September 5 at the Community Hall in Sector A, Pocket C, Vasant Kunj.

If you have a problem, come between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and get all the help you need to tell them you know.
