Mumbai, June 9: This fortnight, it’s none other than international couture, perfumes and cosmetic giant, Christian Dior, helping us with our look. Dior had their international make-up artist — Herve Bonneau — flown in to Mumbai, especially for this.
Bonneau, a charming Frenchman, slick with gelled hair and chic spectacles, seemed spot-on with his advise. His understanding of Indian skin and climate was crucial to his make-up colours and application technique. Although he came down with the new Spring Summer look — a vibrant mix of colours and gloss — we prompted him to help with some tips for the monsoon. After all, the rains will be here shortly.
Here’s what Bonneau had to say: Pink is king, even in sticky grey weather. Try Dior’s Flame Rose for the skin and the Addict range for lips. Use a blush cream instead of rouge powder for the face. It doesn’t rub off with sweat. Use a lot of loose powder. Carry it with you in your hand bag. Especially in sultry wet weather, when you need to touch up your face often. Use a facial mask every week. Not only does it cleanse and purify your skin in the hot weather, it also refreshes it. For colours, there’s no diktat. Wear what suits your outfit and the occasion. But Indians should stay away from yellow, it turns green on Indian complexion.
Stay away from bleeding foundation. Use a Dior Matte Aqua Powder and Matte Aqua Fluid Lotion instead.
