Visually-impaired observe Nehru’s anniversary

S.A.S. Nagar, May 27: For the 90 visually impaired children who were taken for a visit to Thunder Zone, today was a very special day.

The occasion was the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, fondly remembered by children as Chacha Nehru.

These visually impaired children, 90 in number, were taken to Thunder Zone Water and Amusement Park near Mohali town today by the National Society for the Child Artists, a Mohali-based NGO. They hailed from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.

The children enjoyed various joy rides in the amusement park.

They also presented a cultural programme on this occasion in the memory of Pt Nehru.

They also paid rich tributes to the former prime minister.

The children were addressed by the president of Mohali MC Kulwant Singh and Ajit Salani, the chairman of the National Society for the Child Artists.

CTCC too pays homage to Nehru
CHANDIGARH Territorial Congress Committee today observed the death anniversary of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru who died in 1964. Recalling the sacrfices made by this great leader, CTCC chief B.B. Bahl said it was his skills which made India self-dependent. Local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal also spoke on the occasion and paid floral tributes to the departed leader. Other prominent leaders who attended the function included Sham Lal Gupta, Ram Pal Sharma, Shreshta Mehta, Phool Chand, former mayor Lalit Joshi, Shyama Negi, Kamlesh, Pushpa Sharma, Surinder Singh and Kuldip Singh, all councillors.
