Woman locks herself in apartment, rescued
Express News Service

Mumbai, September 11: A 65-YEAR-OLD woman was rescued by fire brigade personnel after she accidentally locked herself in her Santa Cruz apartment on Tuesday afternoon. According to the police, the senior citizen lives alone on Juhu Tara road in Santa Cruz. The police control room was first informed about the woman being trapped in the house around 1 pm on Tuesday. The control room then forwarded the message to the fire brigade. The firemen rushed to the spot and rescued the woman after breaking open the main door.

The police have not registered any case in this regard and have requested the media not to mention the woman's name. “The woman lives alone and if her identity is made public, she could become a soft target for the robbers,” said a police official at Santa Cruz police station.

The woman told the fire brigade personnel and the police that she was not able to open the main door of her third floor apartment on Tuesday after she locked it in the morning.

She had also called on the police helpline for the senior citizens, said the police.
