Vadodara, September 11: BEGINNING with the state-level badminton tournament for women, the Vadodara district is going to host a month-long sporting jamboree at different venues. While the badminton tournament began on Tuesday, various other events, including gymnastics and archery competitions, are being planned.
Vadodara District sports officer Rajesh Vasava said, “The sports lovers here will witness a host of competitions taking place in their backyards.”
He said that a state-level badminton event was already inaugurated at Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) premises, while a state-level basketball tournament for U-19 Boys and Girls is scheduled to begin at the newly built sports complex of Mota-Fofalia village.
Vasava said that around 60 teams from across Gujarat are coming for the basketball event which will start from September 14 to 16. Also, plans are afoot for a state-level archery competition in Vadodara or somewhere in the district and they are hoping to get a nod from the Government, he added.

It will host all the 26 district teams, in total 32 teams, as cities with municipal corporations will send their urban team as well, said Vasava.
