Senior Citizen’s cell falls short of expectations
Nainu Rohtaki

Panchkula, September 11: The claims of Panchkula police to provide security and care to the senior citizens by opening the Senior Citizens’ Cell in Sector 15, Panchkula, have failed the test, as the officials of the cell find no time to visit the houses of senior citizens due to different duties assigned to them.

Not only this, the entry registers have also been badly maintained by the officials, who were appointed to transport the sick and old people to hospitals in times of need, without getting into any other related matters.

“Our only duty is to transport the sick and old people to the General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, in times of emergencies, for which an ambulance has also been provided to us. There are 13 policemen to look after the Senior Citizens’ Cell, most of us, however, are sent on different duties that makes it difficult for us to visit houses of the senior citizens,” said one of the official of the cell on condition of anonymity. When asked about the poor maintenance of the entry register by the cell, the official remained tight-lipped over the issue.
