SAS Nagar, September 11: While the gas companies following the directions of the central government have given relaxation to the government schools, social organisations, religious institutions to treat their LPG gas connection as residential instead of commercial, a gas agency in Phase-V (Indane) has asked the managements of the religious institutions in Mohali to get their LPG connections converted into commercial.
Gurdwara Sahibzada Ajit Singh General Secretary Mohinder Singh, in a letter to the food and civil supplies minister demanded that the relaxation provided to the religious institutions should continue. Mohinder Singh said in his letter that the gas connection taken by the Gurdwara management committee is being used to prepare langar but the gas agency has now refused to supply gas cylinder to the Gurdwara and other religious places saying that the gas connection should have to be converted into commercial connections and only then they would get the supply.
On the other hand owner of Mohali Gas Agency, Phase-V Anup Kumar Jain, said that the company issued a circular that only those religious institutions would be provided regular residential gas connection who have been given tax exemption facility by the income tax department and he has asked all the management committees of the religious institutions to provide him the copy of the tax exemption. |
