Chandigarh, September 11: Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 32, will install a software for marking the attendance where the fingerprints of the teachers are required.
The details of the software have already been updated on its websiteGMSSS, Sector 32, is the first government school in the city to go online, and all the details related to the school will be available on the website. The website is already functional, but the formal inauguration will be held on September 17.
While the website was being designed, the school authorities had decided to use smart card for marking the attendance of the teachers, which they were required to punch in at the time of entering and leaving the school premises. However, to make the system flawless the concept of fingerprints has been introduced.
Giving details, School principal Anil Sharma said, “With the card system the teachers could have exchanged their cards and marked each other’s attendance. With the new software, fingerprints are necessary to match, which has made the chances of proxy go nil.”
With this software being operational the officials in the UT Education Department including DPI (S), and Home Secretary, can keep a tab on the timings of the teachers sitting even in their office. Besides teachers, the other staff members will also be required to mark their attendance like this.
Meanwhile, the marks of different subjects will also be available on the website. Parents will be given the code, entering which they can check both the attendance and the marks of their children.
