Pune, September 11: IN four months time, all child labourers across the state will be identified and a rehabilitation policy will be undertaken.
This was decided in the first meeting of officials held recently at YASHADA in the city after the State action plan for elimination of child labour was passed on July 3 this year. State Labour Commissioner BD Sanap who attended the meeting said that in another 15 days time, all the modalities for conducting the survey would be readied and NGOs and district collectors would be involved in the survey.
With the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan giving a figure of
1, 70,000 children out of school, this would be a more detailed survey and YASHADA, the nodal centre for monitoring the entire activity, has already prepared a manual to conduct the survey. Dr KS Nair, member secretary of the committee to implement the state action plan said that another meeting would be conducted in 15 days time to finalise the basic modalities.
The survey will be carried out for child labourers in the age group of 6-14 years. The meeting was attended by members of the Women and Child Welfare Development, Social welfare department, Kamgar Kalyan Mandal, International Labour Organisation representatives as well as officials of labour department. |
