Rs 50,000 for info on killer
BIBVEWADI MURDER: Umranikar offers cash prize

Pune, September 11: CITY police commissioner Jayant Umranikar has annouced a cash prize of Rs 50,000 to anyone with information on the robber behind the gruesome murder of 70-year-old Shalini Uddhavrao Jadhav in her posh Purple Castle society apartment in Bibvewadi on Monday afternoon.

Shalini was with granddaughter-in-law Shubhda when an unidentified person knocked on their door at around 3.15 pm. He told them he had come to fetch the keys to their vehicle that he had been asked to repair by Jayraj, Jadhav’s grandson. When she tried giving Jayraj a call to make sure, the robber dashed towards the septuagenarian.

After a brief argument, he chopped off both her hands and dismembered four of her right hand fingers before cutting her throat. Shubhda rushed forth only to be attacked. Shubhda, who sustained serious injuries, has been admitted to a private hospital.

The crime branch has released the suspect’s sketch and said that he is roughly five feet, eight inches tall and extremely vengeful in nature. Hair cropped, he is known to have worn a blue-coloured formal pant and orange-coloured shirt with checks at the time of the crime.

Meanwhile, Umranikar has appealed to the public to not allow unidentified and suspcious people into their society premises or residences. “A thorough verification should be carried out to establish their indentity,” he said.
