Patiala, September 09: Lawrence School, Lovedale (Ooty) defeated Vidya Devi Jindal School ,Hisar in the final of the IPSC girls (U-17) Hockey Tournament that concluded at the Yadvindra Public School (YPS) grounds. Third position in the tournament went to Mayo College Girl's School Ajmer.

In the final today, the first goal of the match was scored in the 8th minute by Jashanpreet of VDJ, School after she managed to make inroad in the opposition defence. After they smelled blood the VDJ forward line was on further attack and the second goal was scored by Simran who consolidated the lead further to VDJ by scoring in the opening minute of the of the second half.

However the Ooty girls pulled up their socks and in the 46th and 47th minute of the game Upasna and Narmatha of Lawrence team scored two equalizers. The match ended in a draw with both the teams ending at 2 each.

The fate of the match was decided by penalty strokes and the Ooty team emerged champions as they lead the strikes 4-3. In the last league match of the morning session, between White Eagles School, Gujrat and hosts YPS Patiala, the match ended in a draw, the score being 3-3. Dhara Ramani of White Eagle School scored all the goals in the 15th, 49th and 58th minute respectively while Noopur of YPS scored the first 2 goals in the 8th and 36th minute and Ranjit Johal scored the equalizer in the 61st minute for YPS.

Winners: Lawrence School, Lovedale (Ooty), Runners Up: Vidya Devi Jindal School, Hisar. Third Position: Mayo College Girls' School, Ajmer.
