Chandigarh, September 09: Edmund Rice Cricket Academy, Sector-26 clinched an exciting five run victory over Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy in a league match of the WWICS Under-14 Cricket Tournament being played at the St Stephen's Cricket Stadium, Togan on Sunday.
DP Azad Cricket Academy won the toss and elected to field first. Edmund Rice Cricket Academy, Sector-26 posted a modest total of 125 for 7 in the stipulated 25 overs. Aditya (50) scored a fine half century which was studded with three hits to the boundary and he was ably supported by Balwinder who played an unbeaten knock of 43 runs. Aditya and Balwinder were associated in a 62-run partnership for the fifth wicket. For DP Azad Cricket Academy, Talwinder Singh picked up two wickets for seven runs.
Chasing a target of 126 runs, DP Azad Cricket Academy made a confident start as openers Karan Aggarwal and Talwinder Pal Singh were associated in a 32-run partnership for the first wicket. Udit Mehta (37) and Abhilesh (30) set up the run chase but their effort was not enough as DP Azad Cricket Academy fell short by five runs. For Edmund Rice Cricket Academy, spinner Shubham Bharti picked up two wickets for 27 runs.
