AFTER Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) alumnus Kranti Kanade’s National award-winning film Chaitra recently, three more FTII students have shot into the limelight, courtesy their films.
The Cinema Tout Ecran has evinced a keen interest in screening their films for the International Film and Television Festival to be held in Geneva from October 21-27.
The films include Catalyst by S Manasvi, a second-year direction student, Dhood Nahin Piyoge To (Drink Milk Or Else) by Saurabh Vishwakarma, a second-year student of cinematography and Excess by Vikram Chavan, a former student.
The three films were picked by Cinema Tout Ecran from others screened at international festivals.
The films will be screened in the short film category and will compete with other professionally-made films from across the globe. They are eight to 10 minutes in duration and have been sub-titled in French for the festival.
‘‘Making the film was a whole new experience as it was the first time films were being made on digital format at FTII. We hardly had any prior practical handling of the camera,’’ says Manasvi.
Meanwhile, the FTII has sent 18 entries for the Digital Talkies Festival to be held in New Delhi this October.
‘‘Entries are sent nearly every fortnight for film festivals across the globe,’’says FTII film research officer, Manmohan Chadha, adding that students win laurels with unfailing regularity both on the national and international circuits.
