Panchkula man shoots himself
Was in his car near the Sector 8 lightpoint when he committed suicide

Panchkula, April 29: A forty-year-old builder, Vikas Singhal, a resident of Sector 6, committed suicide by shooting himself in the temple here today. Singhal was in his Toyota Innova at the Sector 8 lightpoint when he took his life with a 7.6 German-made pistol. He and his driver were going to his firm, Reglan Infrastructure in Zirakpur, when he took the extreme step around noon.

“Vikas Singhal stayed with his wife, Ritu Singhal, and their two daughters (aged 7 and 12) in their Sector 6 home. The moment we reached near the Sector 8 lightpoint, he shot himself with his pistol after which he was rushed to General Hospital, Sector 6, where he was declared brought dead,” said Vikas Singhal's driver, who has been staying with them for the past two years.

Ritu Singhal said she and her husband had gone to Hotel Mountview in Chandigarh in the morning and after returning around noon, her husband dropped her at their house. He reportedly told her that he was going to Zirakpur after which the incident occurred. She added that Vikas Singhal had been depressed for quite some time as he was worried about a business issue. A case has been registered under Section 174 of the CrPc.
