Around 11 am yesterday, she had gone to Palika Bazaar for shopping when the incident took place. “I was looking at some ear-rings in a shop window when two salespersons at the opposite shop — number 45, which sold garments — invited me to check out their ware. I went to their shop and they showed me garments for around 15-20 minutes,” the woman said in the FIR.

Police say that the two accused, Narendra and Ashok, then persuaded her to accompany them to the first-floor of the market, where they said they had another store. “As I entered the store, which was a small room, they bolted the door from inside and raped me,” the woman said in her complaint.

She managed to escape and contacted the Palika Bazaar Association members who then called in the police. She was taken for a medical examination and later, an FIR was lodged at the CP police station. The accused were produced before a magistrate today.
