Sources stated that the accused had a score to settle with Kamaljit Singh Ladda, husband of Simranjit Kaur, who was seven months pregnant. They allegedly barged into his house and beat up his father Tarsem Singh. Simranjit too was beaten up when she intervened to save her father-in-law. Soon afterwards, she went into labour and delivered a dead child. SSP Paramraj Singh Umranangal said an inquiry had been marked into the matter and the case would be duly probed.
