Ludhiana, April 9: GURBAKSH Kaur, a resident of Hazuri Bagh Colony, was murdered by her husband because she suspected him of having an affair with some woman, said the police today.
The police, which had rounded by the victim’s husband, Surinder Pal Singh, for questioning last night, arrested him today after he confessed to the murder, Salem Tabri SHO Gurbans Singh Bains told mediapersons. Gurbaksh Kaur was murdered in her house early Saturday morning. The police have also recovered the hammer with which Surinder Pal, a Class IV employee at a veterinary dispensary at Bahadur Ke village, killed his wife, the SHO said.
The SHO said as per Surinder Pal Singh, his wife suspected him of having relations with another woman. ‘‘He told us that he had not been paid salary for the last couple of months. But his wife suspected that he had given the money to the woman she thought he was having an affair with. Fed up with the nagging, he decided to kill his wife,’’ the SHO said.
Around 12.30 am on Saturday, while Gurbaksh Kaur was asleep, Surinder Pal attacked her with a hammer and later cooked up a story that some robbers had entered their house and murdered his wife while he ran away to save himself, SHO Bains said.
‘‘But there were many contradictions in his story, which made us suspicious,’’ the police official said. The victim’s brother, Gurjit Singh, had also accused Surinder Pal alleging that he used to quarrel with his sister because of his affair with another woman. |
