Pune, March 8: ACTING as a facilitator between the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the citizens and in order to help and guide people about ‘Right To Information’ Act, a three-day mobile squad will be set up in the main building. The squad is being set by policeman-turned-RTI activist S M Mushrif and other civic activists.
The idea behind setting up the squad, Mushrif said, was to encourage people to use the RTI Act. ‘‘Many people register complaints with the civic administration, but they are not lodged under the RTI Act. If it is done so, then people will get immediate results,’’ he said.
People at the PMC building will also be given information on the nature of the RTI Act and guided on making applications. The mobile squad will also listen to complaints and queries of people against the civic administration, which will later be corresponded with the departments concerned.
‘‘Based on the nature of complaints, we will also provide suggestions to the departments and officers on the scope for improvement,’’ said Mushrif. People are invited to come along with their complaints against the PMC till Thursday. He also said that the squad will be also set up at the office of district collector and other government-related offices soon. |
