For a better world: SJOBA pledges help for underprivileged

Chandigarh, December 23: ALUMNI of St John’s High School today assembled and promised to extend help for a safe and better future for the underprivileged. The SJOBA Foundation, a trust set up by the St John’s Old Boy’s Association in 2003, unveiled its objectives and activities at a formal presentation, at the North Region headquarters of the CII.

Laying down the objectives of the association, foundation member Ajay Thiara said that it aims to promote, develop and encourage the advancement of education, literacy, sports, culture and the social sciences.

The chairman of the foundation is M.L. Sarin and the founding members of the SJOBA Foundation are Vivek Vahi, Yashovardhan Saboo, S.P.S. Ghai, Ajay Tiwari, Chitranjan Agarwal and Pranav Gupta. The members comprise professionals who have excelled in industry or in other fields of human endeavour. Speaking on the occasion, secretary of the foundation, Pranav Gupta said, ‘‘The SJOBA Foundation has been set up to give the students an opportunity to pursue their dreams’’. Dr Gurpreet Dhillon, professor of Information and Systems at Virginia Commonwealth University also delivered a speech on the occasion.

The speakers highlighted that some of the activities of the foundation would be to organise lectures, debates, discussions and seminars for the diffusion of knowledge and promotion of related activities.
