18th CHANDIGARH TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP

DEV BEATS PUNEET KUMAR 11-6, 11-4, 11-7, 11-6 IN THE BOYS’ SUB-JUNIOR FINAL

Chandigarh, November 16: DEV Saini of DAV Public School (DAVPS), Sector 8 and Meghna Kakaria of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, today won the boys' and girls' sub-junior titles respectively at the 18th Chandigarh Table Tennis Championship. The event is in progress at the Table Tennis Hall, Sector 23.

In the sub-junior boys' (under-14) final, Dev Saini outclassed Puneet Kumar of Delhi Public School, Sector 40 in four straight games of 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 and 11-6 while in the girls' final, Meghna had to work hard to beat Naina Suri of DAVPS-8, in a thrilling encounter of six games of 11-7, 11-8, 7-11, 8-11, 11-6, 12-10.

Earlier during the day, in the sub-junior boys' semi-finals, Dev Saini ousted Sumit Chaudhary of Ajit Karam Singh International Public School (AKSIPS), Sector 41, in a well-contested affair 11-8, 12-11, 11-5, 11-3 whereas Puneet had a tough time against Mayank Sharma of DAVPS-8 to qualify for final. He won the match 11-8, 11-4, 7-11, 8-11, 11-8, 11-8.

In the girls' sub-junior semi-finals Naina Suri outlasted Kalyani of Tender Heart School, Sector 33, in six games of 13-11, 8-11, 11-5, 5-11, 11-6, 11-5 whereas Meghna Kakaria beat Aishwarya of DAVPS -8 in four straight games of 11-6, 11-9, 12-10,

11-5.
