The Gold Rush Women's craze for the yellow metal will surely never pale. Or so it seems with the increasing number of jewellery brands hitting the market. This time it’s Avenue Montaign. While you could already buy their light-weight adornments at their Gurgaon showroom Gold Souk, on Wednesday, came the formal launch with a show at InterContinental The Grand. White gold and diamond encrusted, the pieces did seem eye-catching. The same though couldn’t be said of the models and jarring music that played at the show. With more stores planned in the Capital and around the country, Avenue Montaign— a venture of the Delhi-based Aerens Groups— wants to go international too.

The reassurance came over some wine and sushi as the British Council celebrated the visit of Bill Rammell, British Minister of State for Lifelong Learning and higher education, to the Capital, on Tuesday. Rammell is in India to ‘‘build a plan of co-operation and establish joint research projects and student exchanges.’’ The Indian and British Prime Ministers will be signing some agreements to this effect soon, we were told. Also, present was Tim Gore, First Secretary, education. Despite being a serious affair, the evening, nonetheless, was a lively engagement. |
