Pune, May 19: After last year’s surfeit of complaints regarding the online admission process, the University of Pune (UoP) appears more circumspect this year in conducting the process for postgraduate (PG) courses for 2005-6.
Vice-chancellor Ashok Kolaskar said here today that an admission cell has been set up at the Board of College and University Development (BCUD) office to ensure that the process goes off smoothly. The cell will deal with any problem or grievance for quick settlement. ‘‘So far there have been no complaints,’’ Kolaskar said.
Students in need of help can contact the cell on 25698007, BCUD chief Nayana Nimkar said.
The online application form has been simplified. The 2005-6 academic year starts from July 1. Of a total of 41 PG departments, admissions to 980 seats for 19 courses will be done through an entrance exam. For bioinformatics, physics, and chemistry there will be a national-level entrance test. The exam centres will be at Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Amravati, and Sangli.
The forms for physics, geography, scientific computing, and botany must be filled in by May 25, while the deadlines for other PG courses are May 30, June 6, and June 13.
The Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited will continue to facilitate the online process on behalf of UoP through its website - www.mkcl.ws/pupg. Details of admissions are also available on the UoP Website — www.unipune.ernet.in.
