Halol police on Monday arrested a youth, Naushad Pathan, allegedly involved in the murder of his associate, Dilshad, on the outskirts of Halol town on Friday last. He would be produced in court on Tuesday. Both the deceased as well as the accused worked in the Ekta Bakery there.
Giving details, PI V V Rathod of Halol police said a knife and a bicycle, used in the murder and Naushad’s blood-stained clothes, were also seized by the cops.
After preliminary interrogation of the accused, Rathod said that the deceased was a gay and used to indulge in unnatural sex.
On Friday, he asked his associate, Naushad, to accompany him to the abandoned ralway quarters for the unnatural act. Naushad tried to avoid it. However after coaxing by Dilshad, Naushad agreed.
According to police, both left on the same bicycle. But before leaving Naushad picked up the knife and a pair of spare clothes from the bakery and hid them under the bicyle’s seat. He also bought ‘pan’ on the way before reaching the railway quarters.
After they reached the railway quarters, Naushad assaulted Dilshad on the neck, who tried to flee. But Naushad managed to overpower him and chopped off his neck from the body. He then changed his clothes, wrapped the blood-stained clothes in a plastic bag and returned to the bakery around 8 pm.
When the body was found the next day, bakery owner Raees Khan identified it. Six persons, including Khan, were picked up by the police for interrogation on Sunday. However, all but Naushad were allowed to go as the latter confessed to commiting the crime. A case of murder was registered against him.
Rathod said both the deceased and the accused hailed from Bijnore district of Uttar Pradesh. Bakery owner Raees Kahn is also from the same place and related to the deceased.
