Take the zing out of your ring, Paul tells his men
Tushar Srivastava

New Delhi, January 20: Dhoom macha de, dhoom macha de, dhoom. That’s what ring tones — being downloaded from cellular companies day in and day out — have been doing. Commissioner K K Paul, however, is not amused.

He has asked his men to revert to the normal ring tones and not test his patience. The issue first came up during a meeting of senior officers with Paul a few days back. He casually mentioned that whenever he called his senior officers, he found a radio station on the cellphone and had to disconnect. The message was clear.

‘‘The Commissioner won’t call you himself on your mobile unless there is something urgent or extremely important. There are serious matters to be discussed and it is really absurd that when he calls, he is greeted with Tan dole, mera man dole, a senior police officer said. ‘‘What is the need to have these tunes? These mobile phones have been give by the government. You do what you want with your private phones and won’t be any objection to it but here we have serious things to talk about,’’ Paul told Newsline.
