Small change can make big difference

Ahmedabad, January 4: Over a week after the tsunami disaster, relief materials for the victims, continue to flow in from various organisations in the city. But what has touched the hearts of many is the effort made by two eight-year-old kids of the city, Rushabh and Kush Singi. On Tuesday, the kids contributed Rs 5,000 to the CM’s relief fund—an amount they had collected by saving their pocket money. A press release issued by the information bureau stated that the Chief Minister had sent his appreciation to the kids and congratulated them for the noble gesture.

While the fishermen community of Porbandar and Mangrol have also contributed Rs 2 lakhs, the Rajasthan Jain Mahila Sewa have collected and contributed Rs 1.8 lakhs. Panchmahal Steel made a contribution of Rs 5 lakhs while Gujarat State Financial Services have contributed Rs 5 crore for the aid of tsunami-hit. Employees of (GEB) have handed over a cheque of Rs 1.37 crore and Sugar Federation has donated Rs 21 lakhs.

The LIC Employees Union, Gandhinagar division have collected Rs 50,000 for the victims. While Ahmedabad division too made a contribution of Rs 50,000, Rajkot and Bhavnagar divisions have contributed Rs 10,000 each.
